In the first of these two 45-minute presentations, you’ll find out what a List Song is and listen to Troy’s selection of Porter’s Top Ten, chosen for their wit, popularity, or significance in his career. The songs will be played chronologically and you’ll learn about Porter’s extraordinary life along the way. In the second presentation, Troy will cover Porter’s love ballads, which he characterizes as Lust Songs. You’ll discover why by learning the story of Porter’s secret, private life while you hear the Top Ten, which includes many of his great standards.
